The State Bar of South Dakota is a unified bar established in 1931 by the South Dakota Legislature and pursuant to South Dakota Supreme Court Rule. The stated purposes of the bar are to maintain a high standard of professional conduct, furnish a legal entity through which the considered judgment of its members on issues affecting the judicial system may be made available to the courts and the Legislature, to uphold the honor of the profession, and to improve the administration of justice.
